“We had become, with the approach of night, once more aware of loneliness and time – those two companions without whom no journey can yield us anything.”—Lawrence Durrell, Bitter Lemons (via liquidnight)
“I have often asked myself whether, given the
choice, I would choose to have manic depressive illness. If lithium were not
available to me, or didn’t work for me, the
answer would be a simple no… and it would
be an answer laced with terror. But lithium
does work for me, and therefore I can afford
to pose the question. Strangely enough, I
think I would choose to have it. It’s
complicated… I honestly believe that as a
result of it I have felt more things, more
deeply; had more experiences, more
intensely; loved more, and have been more
loved; laughed more often for having cried
more often; appreciated more the springs, for
all the winters… Depressed, I have crawled on
my hands and knees in order to get across a
room and have done it for month after month.
But normal or manic I have run faster, thought
faster, and loved faster than most I know.”—Touched with Fire by Kay Redfield Jamison
Interview #1 done and over with!!! Eeeeeek I hope I get another one! I have to say though, there is always that one person who just tries to overachieve way too much and I kid you not, this kid wanted to include in a campaign on mental health, smashing plates after cooking a meal to relieve stress. I tried so hard not to put that down…or to laugh…I was just like…umm maybe! lol.

Psychopathology is easily one of the best classes I’ve ever taken, and I’m only in the 4th week. I could just sit and listen to my professor talk all day and I wouldn’t get bored. love love love my major!
“No man or woman of the humblest sort can really be strong, gentle and good, without the world being better for it, without somebody being helped and comforted by the very existence of that goodness.”—― Alan Alda (via magnusandthemagnet)
I have this tradition going on now, that every time a poppy dance song comes on (ie: Call Me Maybe, any Cascada song…) I dance behind my roommate while she’s at the mirror and it never fails to make her laugh hysterically. No one can beat these moves, psh.
Hal: Well, let’s say that since you were little, you always dreamed of getting a lion. And you wait, and you wait, and you wait, and you wait but the lion doesn’t come. And along comes a giraffe. You can be alone, or you can be with the giraffe.
“The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words.”—Rachel Naomi Remen (via black-tangled-heart)
“I wanna know what you see when you look in the mirror on a day you’re feeling good. I wanna know what you see in the mirror on a day you’re feeling bad. I wanna know the first person who ever taught you your beauty could ever be reflected on a lousy piece of glass”—Andrea Gibson (via transformfeminism)
