With expectation comes heartache. We can’t help but expect things out of others over time and when that goes awry, we get upset, not only with the other person, but with ourselves for being “stupid, dumb, naive, not up to par with what the other person wanted.” I wish there was no disappointment at all, but it’s inevitable, when we text someone, message someone, call someone, give someone a gift, tell them we like them, tell them we love them. Not everyone is going to feel the same way for god knows what kind of reason and I think it’s important to remind ourselves that we are not to blame. The other person isn’t necessarily to blame either. At least not as much as you think they should be…haha. If you were yourself and you were honest and courageous enough to put yourself out there, that is something to be proud of. I’ve been in these kinds of situations with multiple people (love interests, friends, family..) and so I know, and I think we all know. It sucks but we grow and we learn and that’s life. Don’t ever put yourself down for being a good person with good intentions. :)
“When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.”—Fred Rogers (via creatingaquietmind)
“Yet how malleable our memories are, even if our brains are intact. Neuroscientists now suggest that while the core meaning of a longterm memory remains, the memory transforms each time we attempt to remember.”—Mira Bartok (The Memory Palace)
We had a falling-out, Like lovers often will And to think of how she left that night, It still brings me a chill And though our separation, It pierced me to the heart She still lives inside of me, We’ve never been apart…
“Let me respectfully remind you,
life and death
are of supreme importance.
Time swiftly passes by
and opportunity is lost.
Each of us should strive to
Do Not Squander Your Life.”—The Evening Gatha (via tylerknott)
